Tony Romo Chokes Again

That was a good game last night.  RGIII showed up big.  Dallas played tough as usual, but there was just something in the air last night.  Everybody knew it.  I called it, just before it happened.

Tony Romo is a good NFL quarterback, but for some reason, he just can't win the games that he needs to.  I really feel for the Dallas Cowboys fans.  They knew deep down that Romo would pull a Romo.

Romo is better than a lot of quarterbacks in the NFL. He doesn't have any reason to hold his head down.  He just doesn't make the plays when he needs to.  He is like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football.  When the game is on the line, he swings and misses.

Really good NFL quarterbacks are hard to find.  Will Dallas get rid of Romo after another heartbreaking loss and disappointing season?  Who knows.  When you have a franchise that has won it all multiple times, you have a high standard that must be met.  When a team falls short, it can be really hard on the fan base.

Romo might not win a superbowl.  He choked again and the Cowboys will miss the playoffs.  Dallas Cowboys fans are probably pissed right now, but they should really take a look around the NFL and think hard before they talk about getting rid of Romo.  Good quarterback play is hard to find.

Niners versus Patriots - Big Win for San Francisco

The 49ers are moving forward with Colin K at quarterback.  He went into New England and helped lead SF to a victory against the Patriots.  The game was good from the Kickoff.  There were lots of big plays and lots of big hits.

The 49er defense really showed up in this game.  They had those Patriot WRs and Tight Ends dropping the ball in fear in the first half.  There was a bogus call against one of the 49er safeties for hitting a defenseless player.  The NFL is going to have to do something about those calls.  I don't see how you can play defense anymore.  The whole goal is to separate the offensive player from the ball and if you can't come up and make a big hit, it is going to be impossible to play good defense.

I don't what happened to the 49er defense in the second half.  They started letting the Patriots get on track and they started racking up points like they were playing Madden.  A large Niner lead evaporated.  It really had me shaking my head.  The 49ers were agressive in the first half on offense and then all of sudden, they started having a string of three and out series.  One big note on the day was the number of times that the ball was put on the ground by both sides.  Colin had a hard time holding on to the ball and on the other side the patriots were getting blasted by the Niner defense and giving the ball right back.

Colin was having a pretty good day throwing the ball and you can just cringe at the thought of all the points that the Niners didn't put on the scoreboard.  They had missed field goals and dropped passes in the end zone.  The score could have really gotten out of hand in that first half.   This week we saw the re-emergence of Randy Moss and can look forward to more hookups between Colin K and Mr. Moss.  Michael Crabtree also had a big day.  I can remember just a few months ago people talking about him being a diva in the comments section on bleacherreport.  Crabtree has not been the problem. He just needed someone to get him the ball accurately.  Colin K is looking for those receivers down the field and connecting.

Tom Brady is a great quarterback and for a few moments I thought that the 49ers were going to make history in the wrong kind of way.  The Pats almost pulled off one heck of a comeback.  They were pulling out all of the stops. They had no problem going for it on 4th down and converting.  But eventually the 49er defense decided to tighten up again and added a few sacks.  I was hoping that Aldon Smith would get a few sacks in this game, but the Pats made sure that he was blocked enough to keep him off Brady.  There were a couple of other Niner defenders that did get through in time to hand Brady a nice hello sack.  Ricky Jean Francois and McDonald got in there and did a little damage at the right time in the second half.

This was a really big win for the Niners.

Quarterback Controversy - Alex or Colin

Are you concerned about the quarterback controversy in San Francisco?  I am not.  Alex Smith has played okay football for the last couple of years, but it is time to move on.

Colin just has too much upside to let sit on the bench.

Alex Smith will take a sack.

Alex Smith is the king of the check down.

Colin has speed and can avoid the rush.

Alex plays safe and small ball.

The 49ers invested a lot in upgrading the wide receivers.

Could Alex take advantage of it?  No.

Colin can get the ball down the field.

Receivers now can actually catch the ball in stride.

They don't have to look shocked when the ball hits them in the hands.

Jim Harbaugh did Alex Smith a favor in building him up to this point.

Now Alex can either sit on the bench or take his talents to  ......

WOW the 49ers Crush the Buffalo Bills

You just never know which team will show up.

The 49ers dominated the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.  I thought that the game would be much closer that what occured.

Alex Smith threw for more than 300 yards and he was actually accurate.  He really looked like an all pro quarterback.

The Defense was strong as usual.   The bills would make catches and the niner d would be right there to come up and make the play.

Frank Gore got off to a fast start and keep it rolling for the whole game.  The 49er offense looked good in just about every area of play.

A game like this one makes you question what happened in the Minnesota game.

Alex Smith put on a performance that is hard to argue against. I guess I have to shut up this week.  We will see how long the 49ers can play at this high level.

Next up the NY Giants.  This should be a great match up.

The New York Jets might need receivers

The Jets might be in need of a wide receiver.  Santonio Holmes went down in the loss to the 49ers.  They need to give Mark Sanchez some more help.

The New York Jets should be on the phone right now with Chad OchoCinco and Terrell Owens.  What do the Jets have to lose at this point?

Bring both of the veteran wide receivers in.  They are not going to cost much and instantly Mark Sanchez has some real threats to throw at.

Having T.O. and Chad in a major market would be great for TV!  Plus T.O and Chad might be able to MOTIVATE Sanchez.

Don't believe the hype

What happened to the 49ers in Minnesota?  They just didn't show up.  The vikings had the 49ers number from the kickoff until the final whistle was blown.

The 49ers were just starting to get some respect in the minds of the NFL and they have a performance like this.  It made no sense to me that the 49ers could not move the ball and get it into the end zone more than what they did.

You have Randy Moss on the team, but cannot find a way to get him the ball down the field.  There have been many excuses given for why Alex Smiths play has been so bad.  Just when you think he had turned the corner, he has a game like this that reminds us what kind of quarterback he really is.

The first couple of weeks of the season had the NFL talking about the 49ers and the superbowl.  This game showed that the talk about superbowl was way out of line.  49er fans are living in fantasy land if they think Alex Smith is going to win a championship.

There is no good reason that the 49ers offense should not be putting up 30 plus points a game. The only weak link is the quarterback.  The number of receiving options for the quarterback position is just off the chain.  The only problem is that he cannot deliver the ball.

The defense didn't look like itself against the Vikings.  They let a young quarterback look like an all pro.  They chewed the clock and kept the defense on the field all day.  Now teams will have a perfect playbook for beating the niners.  Get Alex Smith on the move and you can win the game.

Next up are the Jets.  They won't have Revis but with Alex Smith, will it matter?

NFL 49er Cuts - Cutdown Day

The niners have traded a special teams player Colin Jones and they have released Rock Cartwright.

NFL Cuts

Today is a big day.  Teams are starting to cut players to reduce the rosters.

Just waiting for the notable names that are being let go.

Terrell Owens was cut by the Seattle Seahawks.  I thought he would make the team.  Wonder if he will get another chance with another NFL team or if this is it?

Just saw that Vince Young got released in Buffalo.  They traded for Tavarus Jackson and I guess Vince Young was expendable.

NFL cut days are always interesting.  You never know what big time players are going to get let go.

The Raiders

Watched part of the Raider game last night.  It is preseason, so it is what it is.  I don't know how the Raiders are going to be this year.  When you have big changes in the offseason, everything is thrown into disarray.

Carlson Palmer should have a better season than last year.  He was really good fresh out of college, but after that injury, he has never really been the same.  We will see if this is the year that he gets back in sync.

The Raider running game has been good the last few years.  I think they made a big mistake in letting Michael Bush leave.  That guy was a workhorse and I think they will miss him.  McFadden is a great running back, but you just have to wonder if he can stay healthy the whole season.

The Raiders have some good young wide receivers and it will be interesting to see if Carlson Palmer can get good use out of them.  Darrius Heyward-Bey is fast as they come, but the guy has a problem catching the ball.  They really should consider turning that guy into a running back.  He drops too many passes.  Each year you think that he will become a big part of the offense but it never comes into play.  They had a guy last night Streater I think his name was, that was catching just about everything that was thrown in his direction.  Denarrius Moore wasn't in the line up but he is a baller and I expect big thing from him this year.  Jacoby Ford is also another speedy wideout that the can do damage.

The Raiders need to stay healthy and get that offense hitting on all cylinders.  It will be interesting to see how the new management and coaching have an impact on the team this year.

49ers First Pre Season Game

What are you going to be looking for in the first 49ers preseason football game?  Well, I want to see how the offense looks with Alex Smith at the helm.  I wanted to see if they were going to start Randy Moss, but it looks like he will not be in there on the first team.

The defense should be solid because they have a lot of returning players.  On the offense I want to see the rookie running back LaMichael James and those new wide receivers.  Plus it will be good to get a look at the backup quarterbacks.  We saw a little bit of Colin Kaepernick last year, it will be good to see if he is more comfortable in the pocket this season.  Josh Johnson will also be someone that we want to keep an eye on.

They are putting Kyle Williams back there to return kicks.  I wonder how the crowd will re-act the first time he is back there.

It will be good to see if the first team can move the ball effectively.  The questions are still hanging around Alex Smiths neck.  Is he going to be the quarterback that can actually lead the team to the playoffs and the SuperBowl.  I am still not sold.

So happy that football season is upon us.  mmmm Giggity Giggity.

Seattle Seahawks and Terrell Owens

This morning I got up and checked a few sports blogs.  It was nothing really different about today.  The only big difference was that yesterday, Terrell Owens joined the Seattle Seahawks.

After listening to a few people talking I finally had enough.  There are so many people that talk down about T.O. that it is just too much to take.

People are calling him washed up and talking about how he tears up teams.  I just don't buy it.  The guy is a player and he has performed at every stop on his trip through the NFL.

They said that he ran a sub 4.5 40 yard dash before he was signed.  This guy is pushing the limits of 40 and still able to bring it.

You really can't listen to a lot of the talk about T.O.  There is so much emotion that comes up when people talk about him that it is ridiculous.  People talk all out of their necks about how bad the guy is and then always take notice that they always come back at the last minute and say that he is a great player.

The NFL is all about production.  T.O. produces when you give him a chance to contribute.  I hope that T.O. is successful in Seattle.  It will be interesting to see him in action again.  I just hope that Seattle is not playing games with him and using him for camp bait.  I think if he makes the final roster that he will shock some people again.

49ers Football Season is here!

Training camp has started and you can now taste the new nfl football season.  There have been many changes on the 49ers.  Who would have thought that Randy Moss would be wearing the red and gold?  Alex Smith is still at the qb position but you have to wonder for how long.

The niners defense is pretty much still intact. There are a lot of people that don't think the niners will have as good a season as last year.  They have upgraded the wide receivers and added a few new running backs.

The real question is still going to be Alex Smith.  He played ok last year.  He had a few moments of looking like a real NFL quarterback, but you still get the feeling that the old Alex Smith is going to show up.

The Niners came really close to going to the superbowl.  Two fumbled punt returns were the difference.  They might have even beat the New England Patriots if they had gotten there.  We will never know.

Now we are getting ready for a new football season and niner fans have to put last year behind them.  The niners were not on peoples radar last go round, but this year they are going to be in clear view.

It is going to be really interesting to see how Randy Moss and Alex Smith work together.  Tom Brady got a lot out of Randy.  He was really good at completing those deep passes.  I just wonder if Alex Smith can hook up with Randy on a consistent basis.  The other thing to look out for is Vernon Davis.  With Randy Moss and Mario Manningham entering the lineup, it should open up some routes underneath for Vernon Davis.  With his speed it only takes a few yards of separation for him to pick up big yards after the catch.

I expect Michael Crabtree to have a breakout season too.  People talk bad about Crabtree, but I think he is a real talent that just needs to get the ball thrown in his direction.  The ball needs to be accurate though.  Sometimes Alex Smith was throwing ducks that were making it hard on Crabtree and the other receivers.

This is the first time in a long time that Alex Smith will be having the same offense.  So it will be interesting to see if he can really make it count this year.  I know that he has to be looking over his shoulder because of the offseason moves the niners made and were attempting.  Josh Johnson and the other niner quarterbacks have to be licking their chops with all the receiving options available.  Alex Smith better not slip.

NFL Draft - The Football Season is getting closer

The NFL draft is finally over and all the picks have been made.  They really have turned the NFL Draft into multi-day event.  It takes over the whole weekend.

The first day of the draft is where all the excitement is.  Who is going to be the first pick keeps everybody wondering.  This year there was no drama around the first draft pick. The Colts knew they were drafting Andrew Luck a long time ago and everybody else knew it too.

After the first day of picks, the draft really starts to heat up.  I like the fact that they reduce the amount of time for picks.  The draft is still exciting after the first day because you always have an opportunity for a trade of picks.

The great thing about the web is that once a pick is made, you can immediately go over to youtube and see highlights of the latest draft pick.  Nobody really watches all the college football games and those youtube highlights give you a glimpse of what you can expect from the newly drafted player.

Now that the draft is over, you can really feel like a new football season is getting started.  New NFL Jerseys with the fresh draft picks will be something to lookout for.

How did your team do in the draft?  I think the 49ers did okay.  They went for offensive speed and offensive linemen.  LeMichael James should be a great addition to the 49ers backfield.  Can't wait for this season to get started.

49ers lose the Manning Sweepstakes

Well it turns out that Peyton Manning is headed to the Denver Broncos.  The 49ers were one of the top teams that were in the hunt to land him.  During the selection process, Alex Smith decided to test the Free Agent Market and he visited the Miami Dolphins.  Is this the end for Alex Smith in San Francisco?

Thinking about Peyton Manning coming to the 49ers was a bit of excitement, but you really still have to wonder if he will be as effective as in the past.  He is coming off of a serious neck injury.  The 49ers had to take a serious look at bringing Peyton Manning in.  If you get an opportunity to upgrade a position you have to do it.  Will Alex Smith sign with the 49ers again?  The truth is that the 49ers have invested a lot of money in Smith over the years and you have to wonder if they want to go down that road again.

The 49ers are making some good moves.  They picked up Randy Moss and Mario Manningham as wide receivers.   The niner offense should benefit from the pickup of both of these guys.

What happens if Alex Smith decides to head down to Miami?  The niners still have a few young qb's on the roster.  A strong defense and a solid running game could be the perfect match for a young quarterback.  If Alex moves on, the 49ers should still be able to win games.

Washington Redskins and RGIII?

Looks like RGIII is headed to the Washington Redskins.  The Rams must be okay with there current quarterback Sam Bradford.  He is already proven in the NFL and now they will be getting a bunch of draft picks that they can use to help improve the team in more areas.

I guess that this solves the quarterback problem in Washington.  RGIII has passing and running ability and it should be a problem for NFL Defenses.  Washington already has a good tight end and a wide receiver.  They could add a few more pieces and have a pretty good offense with RGIII running the show.

The draft is still a few weeks away, but things are starting to heat up. Players are starting to get cut and signed.  The combines are over and now some big shifts are starting to happen.

Do you think that Washington made the right move in going after RGIII?

The Combine is Over.

The nfl combine is over.  What would you do with one of the top picks in the nfl draft.  Would you take RGIII or trade him away for draft picks?

The quarterback position is really the foundation of your football team.  When you see a prospect come along with the speed and throwing ability of RGIII you have to wonder if you should trade that pick for multiple draft picks or keep him and build around him.

What if you already have a good quarterback on your roster?  Last year there were a lot of people talking down Cam Newton.  Then the season rolled around and he proved week after week that he could play football in the nfl.

Is RGIII going to come into the NFL and perform just as good as Cam Newton?  He is solid and he is fast.  If the play breaks down, he could extend the play with his running abilities. Pocket passer type quarterbacks are great, but when you have a quarterback that is also mobile, it can present big problems for defenses.

Would you trade the pick to address multiple positions on your team?   I think that I would have to draft RGIII and get him on the field.

A few weeks without NFL Football

That first week without football wasn't too hard to handle.  Sure, you favorite team is not going to be playing on Sundays for a few months but you have to give it to the NFL.  The season really is year round.

The Superbowl was at the beginning of the month and you really only get one week off before the new season kicks off.  What is just a couple of weeks away?  The NFL Combine.  Now NFL fans can start thinking about the new year and forget about not winning the superbowl.  Everything starts over and teams can start looking at the best prospects.

You don't really have an off season.  Check some of the sports blogs and you will see that people are already thinking about free agency and the picking the right new talent.

Are some of your favorite players getting ready to change teams?  They may be putting on some new nfl jerseys.  You won't be able to watch any football games anytime soon, but the combine, the draft and free agency will wet your appetite for the season to come.

The Super Bowl

What did you think about the super bowl?  My team was not in it so I really didn’t care about the outcome.  I must say that I thought the Patriots would pull it out, but the Giants pulled it out.
Eli Manning has stepped his game up and he is a top quarterback in the NFL now.  The pass play at the end of the game showed how much confidence he has.  Deep in his own territory he put the ball up and let his receiver go get it.  He didn’t play conservative.  When he saw the opportunity, he let it ride.
The Patriots really had the game sowed up.  All they had to do was run out the clock.  If Wes Welker catches that Tom Brady pass, the Patriots would have won the game. The Patriot defense giving up the big pass play was also a game changer.
The football season is over and now everybody can start looking forward to next year.  This playoff season was entertaining.  Never would have thought that the Giants would beat the Pats two times in the super bowl.

The NFL Pro Bowl

The NFL made a good move when they decided to move the Pro Bowl to the weekend before the Super Bowl.  Instead of having a whole two weeks before the Super Bowl, you still get to see some football even if it is the Pro Bowl.

Getting all the stars from the NFL together seems to help with the pain of your favorite team not being in the Super Bowl.  Did this season go by really fast or was it just me?  The NFL Playoffs up to this point have been great and the pro bowl puts a cap on this puppy until the show down between the Patriots and the Giants.

Do you really care who wins the Pro Bowl?  No.  It is just the last time you get to see your favorite stars perform for a few plays and then it is on to next season.  The great thing about the NFL is that football never really stops when you think about it.  After next week, fans can quit worrying about this year and start thinking about the NFL Combine and Draft.

The NFL Pro Bowl  is just like the appetizer before dinner.  You know that the big meal is coming soon.  Only a few more days and the rematch will be on.

The San Francisco 49ers 2011-2012 Season

It was a year that started off with unrest and turmoil.  The NFL was going through a labor dispute and no one knew if there would even be football played this year.  The 49ers were coming off of a 6-10 season and the departure of head coach Mike Singletary.

Enter a new head coach Jim Harbaugh and a host of issues from the past regimes.  Alex Smith had struggled throughout his entire career in San Francisco and the 49er faithful were ready to part ways with him.

The 49ers had built a strong defense but it was never enough to help them advance to the playoffs or a winning record.  There was a tough decision ahead of Jim Harbaugh.  Should he start his tenure with the 49ers with Alex Smith at the helm?  Would they have enough time to get his offense installed with a shortened workout schedule?

Harbaugh took a chance on Alex Smith and the rest is history.  The San Francisco 49ers powered with a strong defense and solid offensive play were able to turn the ship around in dramatic fashion.  The defense delivered big hits and turnovers all season.  Alex Smith while not an elite NFL quarterback, made the plays when he needed to and did a good job of protecting the football.

The defensive backfield was upgraded in the offseason with the additions of Carlos Rodgers, and Donte Whitner.  This 49er defense brought the big hits every week and with the first preseason game you could notice a difference.  The 49er linebackers have been a strong point during the season.

Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman bring the heat and close on running backs with swift, bone crushing tackles.  The defensive line got an upgrade with the addition of rookie pass rusher Aldon Smith.  Aldon Smith provided the pressure and showed his speed and skill by getting to the quarterback and causing problems for offensive coordinators all year long.

The 49er defense gave the 49er offense plenty of opportunities to make plays by generating turnovers.  Defenders contested passes, made big gambles that resulted in interceptions, and leveled punishment for receivers that dared to catch the ball while coming across the middle of the field.

The offense showed sparks at times. Tight end Vernon Davis is finally starting to turn into the player that many had imagined.  His speed and catching ability were showcased during the post season.  All it takes is a few steps of separation from a defender and Vernon Davis would be in the end zone.

Frank Gore and rookie running back Kendall Hunter showed flashes of speed when given the opportunity.  The 49ers offensive line improved in their pass protection and gave quarterback Alex Smith more time to throw.

At the beginning of the season, no body would have picked the San Francisco 49ers to have a winning season?  A new head coach, a struggling starting quarterback and shortened training camp made for tough headwinds for the Niners.  Despite all of those issues, Head coach Jim Harbaugh came up with a way to rally his guys and bring a winning brand of tough football back to San Francisco

The 2011-2012 San Francisco 49ers accomplished more than anyone could have hoped for in a first season head coach.  They won the NFC West Division.  They knocked off the high-powered offense of the New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees.  They advanced to the NFC Championship game against the New York Giants.  They took the game to overtime and just came up 3 points short in what could have turned into a trip to the Super Bowl.

NFL Jerseys - Are you going to have one on during the Super Bowl?

Are you looking for professional football team jerseys?  NFL jerseys change over time and they are a way to show support for your team.  NFL jerseys are not cheap.  You may end up paying over a hundred dollars for the real thing.

When you sit down to watch the game, when they scan the crowd you will see a bunch of supporters wearing these jerseys.  They show their favorite players numbers and it shows how committed you are as a fan.

NFL playoff games can have you on the edge of your seat.  With each snap of the football, you are watching for the biggest play of the game.  Sometimes strange things happen in football games.  A player may score a touchdown.  A kick returner may muff a punt.  Your team may end up losing the game.  But one thing usually remains even when your team loses.  There is still a deep affinity for the team.

The way that real fans show their support for their favorite nfl team is by wearing hats, jackets and nfl jerseys.  When you are driving around town, you will notice the die hard football fans.  They have their cars detailed with the logos of their favorite teams.  Some fly flags and beep their horns when they pass you by on the street.

NFL Jerseys make you feel like you are part of the team.  You are not actually on the field and taking the hits, but you are showing your solidarity with the team.

Teams change their uniforms from time to time.  So when you get an NFL Jersey you may have something of value in the future.  You will notice that sometimes during the year teams will wear some of the older uniforms.  You may be able to find some of the old uniforms online.  They call the old jerseys throw back jerseys.  It is a way to show some support for some of your older favorite pro football players and knowledge about the history of the game.

NFL Football Jerseys are stylish and a great way to show your support for the team.  They even track how popular NFL Players are by the number of jerseys sales they have during the year.  Who is your favorite NFL Player?  Do you have their jersey?

New York Giants Headed to the Super Bowl

The niners lost the big game.  The offense could not move the ball in the fourth quarter and they lost the turn over battle.  This game was a nail bitter.  It went back and forth but the Giants came out on top.

San Francisco 49er fans can keep it real.  Did they really think that Alex Smith would win a superbowl this year?  Did they think that the Niners would make the playoffs?  What about even having a winning record?  What ever the San Francisco 49ers are paying Head Coach Jim Harbough, they need to triple it.  For the first time in years Alex Smith started playing with a bit of confidence and the team actually learned how to win games.

The New York Giants are a good football team.  They got two key turnovers that changed the complexion of the game.  Special teams made the difference in this one. Victor Cruz is a really good receiver and Eli Manning is a solid quarterback.

Now the Super Bowl is set between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.  This will be a good game but I think the New England Patriots just have too much offense for the New York Football Giants.  Tom Brady is not Alex Smith.

NFL 2012 NFC Championship Game

The big game is finally here.  The winner will advance to the super bowl.  I am hoping that the 49er defense can keep the Giants in check so that they can move on and get back to the big game.

Alex Smith played well last week and this week he will have a big test with the Giants defense.  He needs to protect the ball and perform at the same level that he did against the Saints.  Alex Smith really showed something in the game last week.  During his stint in San Francisco I have never seen him as confident in his game as this year.  He is being decisive and making the throws when he needs to make them.

Eli Manning has already proved that he can win the big game and he is a tough competitor.  The Giants receivers are decent.  Victor Cruz can be a monster if you don't cover him.  The 49ers defense needs to keep the pressure on Eli and get a high number of turnovers like they did last week.  The Giants offense is good but it is not a quick attack offense like New Orleans.  The Giants want to grind it out and beat your defense up.  They want to wear you down and run ruff shod and demoralize a defense.  The 49ers love to make big hits and I hope they set the tone early by stuffing the run and making the receivers pay when they try to catch the ball.  They sent a message last week and they need to play with the same level of focus.  They cannot have the mental breakdowns like they did against the Saints on a few of those touchdown passes.

NFL Playoff football is more competitive than the regular season games.  It really comes through on each play. They know that one mistake can lead to them having to go home and miss out on an opportunity to head to the superbowl.

2012 NFL Playoffs - NFC Championship Game

There is something about the playoffs. Each game is played at a higher intensity level than the regular season.

The 49ers beat the Saints in a dramatic last second score.  The Giants went to Green Bay and shocked the NFL.  Now the road to the super bowl goes through San Francisco.

Who do you think will win?  I never thought that Alex Smith would be a decent quarterback in the NFL. Alex Smith has been solid at the quarterback position this year.  He has protected the ball this year.  His performance in the fourth quarter against the New Orleans Saints in the NFL Divisional Playoff game was something for the history books.  He led the team to not one, but two scores.

Alex Smith Autographed Jersey - Autographed NFL Jerseys

Vernon Davis and the 49er offense outscored the New Orleans Saints and nobody really thought that could happen.  The New Orleans Saints offense showed their quick strike ability.  It was a shame that the game had to end.

The 49ers are going to bring a strong defense to the table in the NFC Championship game.  The hits that were displayed against the Saints should have the New York Giants thinking about who is around them when they catch the ball.  The 49er defense was able to get turn overs at key moments during the game.  A huge hit and a turn over by Dante Whitner set the tone.

Eli Manning Jerseys

Eli Manning has won the big game and they have the playoff experience.  Both of these defenses should provide big hits and exciting plays.  The New York Giants Defense is coming on strong.  They bring big pressure and the pass rush cannot be ignored.

The New York Giants are going to be confident coming into San Francisco.  They have a quarterback that has won it all.  The Giants offense comes with a running back committee that is hard to bring down.  This will be a good matchup against the 49ers defense.  Expect some major collisions on Sunday.  The 49ers and Giants played a game earlier this year and the niners came out on top but they will not forget how close that game was.  Eli threw for over 300 yards on the day but the running attack was kept under check.  The Giants are a different team now.  Victor Cruz is a deep threat and seems to catch just about everythig thrown his way.  Hopefully, this game will be just as exciting as the division play off games.

NFL Playoffs - NFC Divisional Game - San Francisco 49ers vs New Orleans Saints

This is going to be the game to watch next week.  We all know that the winner of this game will be going to Green Bay to face the Packers.  Powerful offense against a strong defense.  They save defense win championships.  Will the 49ers defense be enough to slow down the Saints high powered offense?

49ers fans have to be concerned about this matchup.  They are coming off of a week without playing so hopefully they will be rested and ready to play.  The Saints just had too many weapons for the Detroit Lions.  Drew Brees is accurate and touch competitor.  They will need to have constant pressure in order to disrupt his precise passing.  Will Aldon Smith be able to get to Brees?  If he is not able, how many points will the Saints put up on the board?

The Saints might be licking their chops. Does Alex Smith really scare the Saints defense?  The Saints remember that first preseason game and how much pressure they applied to the 49ers.  Did the 49ers forget that lesson from earlier this year?  I don't think so.  The question is going to be if the 49ers have an executable game plan that can keep Alex Smith protected and move the ball effectively against the Saints.  You know that they want to control the clock, put points on the board and turn the game over to the defense.

New Orleans Saints Gear

This should be a really exciting football game.  When it comes to the quarterback position, who would you rather have behind the center, Alex Smith or Drew Brees?  No question.  Now, Alex Smith has to prove to himself and the rest of the 49er faithful that he can lead this team to the championship level.

Regular Season is over

The nfl regular season is over and now it is win or go home. When your team is in the playoffs you have hope that this could be the year that they win the superbowl. Deep down you might know that some of the other teams are stronger. In the nfc, the greenbay packers and the saints seem to have the most potent offenses. Will the 49ers defense be able to continue to get turnovers and keep people out of the end zone? Is Alex Smith for real this year or is he going to pull off a performance like Tony Romo in the playoffs? There are so many questions that are going to get answered in the next few weeks. Expect to see some good tough games. This regular season really flew by. Get your nfl jerseys get ready for playoff. Playoffs. Yep. Playoffs.
