Don't believe the hype

What happened to the 49ers in Minnesota?  They just didn't show up.  The vikings had the 49ers number from the kickoff until the final whistle was blown.

The 49ers were just starting to get some respect in the minds of the NFL and they have a performance like this.  It made no sense to me that the 49ers could not move the ball and get it into the end zone more than what they did.

You have Randy Moss on the team, but cannot find a way to get him the ball down the field.  There have been many excuses given for why Alex Smiths play has been so bad.  Just when you think he had turned the corner, he has a game like this that reminds us what kind of quarterback he really is.

The first couple of weeks of the season had the NFL talking about the 49ers and the superbowl.  This game showed that the talk about superbowl was way out of line.  49er fans are living in fantasy land if they think Alex Smith is going to win a championship.

There is no good reason that the 49ers offense should not be putting up 30 plus points a game. The only weak link is the quarterback.  The number of receiving options for the quarterback position is just off the chain.  The only problem is that he cannot deliver the ball.

The defense didn't look like itself against the Vikings.  They let a young quarterback look like an all pro.  They chewed the clock and kept the defense on the field all day.  Now teams will have a perfect playbook for beating the niners.  Get Alex Smith on the move and you can win the game.

Next up are the Jets.  They won't have Revis but with Alex Smith, will it matter?
